Pathway by a pond with trees, a fountain, streetlights, and a large fishing pole-shaped structure. Clear blue sky. Peaceful setting.
The new lamppost was named Art in honor of Arthur Schnebelt who donated the land that is now Schnebelt Park.

After gathering public input through a recent community poll, we’re excited to officially introduce the name of Greendale’s fisherman-style lamppost: Art—short for Arthur Schnebelt, whose generous land donation created Schnebelt Park.

While “Art” received the most votes, the name Tanner emerged as a heartfelt and meaningful runner-up. Inspired by a young man, Tanner Hennen, who loved fishing and whose life ended far too soon, the name resonated deeply with many in our community.

In honor of that support and Tanner’s memory, Mayor Karsteter has directed the installation of a memorial bench near the Greendale Utility Building, creating a peaceful space for reflection and remembrance.

Brick building with large windows and a green roof, surrounded by shrubs. A bench and potted plant sit on the grass, creating a calm setting.
A memorial bench was created outside of the Greendale Utilities Building and dedicated to Tanner Hennen.

We’re proud to be part of a community that not only values its history, but also honors its people with compassion and care.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped shape this meaningful outcome.
