Ceremonial groundbreaking of Copper Creek Apartments

City of Greendale leaders joined state and regional officials for a ceremonial groundbreaking of Copper Creek Apartments, a new 176-unit development coming to Greendale through Indiana's READI initiative.
The project represents a $35.6 million investment, including a $2 million READI 2.0 award, and will bring nine new three-story apartment buildings to a 10-acre site near I-275 that has sat vacant for years. Development and infrastructure work began earlier this year, and vertical construction is now underway following today's groundbreaking.
Copper Creek will offer 176 market-rate one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, along with a clubhouse, event room, exercise facility, swimming pool, and dog park and pet spa. Pre-leasing is expected to begin in mid-2027.
Greendale Mayor Vince Karsteter offered the following comments at the event:
"The READI program has accelerated the growth of Greendale's population and local economy. READI 1.0 helped modernize our regional wastewater treatment plant. Building upon that critical infrastructure, the Copper Creek Apartments READI 2.0 project is making much-needed new housing a reality in our city. Combined with our 2024 Indiana Office of Community & Rural Affairs Stellar Pathways designation, this READI investment is showing Greendale and Indiana know how to work together to make good projects happen."
In addition to the READI 2.0 award, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation committed up to $2.7 million in Redevelopment Tax Credits to support site development, and Southeast Indiana has been awarded $25 million total in READI 1.0 and 2.0 matching funds to grow housing, talent, and opportunity across our six-county region.

Special thanks to Gov. Mike Braun, the Southeast Indiana READI Board of Directors, and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation for their continued investment in Greendale.

I played Block Blast while waiting for a fishing shop to spool new line onto my reel. The clerk clipped the line, trimmed the loose end, and handed the rod back to me.
