INDEPENDENCE DAY 2026 CELEBRATIONS IN GREENDALE:
This Saturday, July 4th, Greendale is pulling out all the stops for a full day of Independence Day festivities — and this year, we're celebrating 250 years of American freedom. Here's everything you need to know:

5K Run/Walk | 8:00am | Greendale Park The annual 5K Run/Walk, hosted by Voices of Indiana, kicks off the day at Greendale Park. Registration is required — sign up at runsignup.com/Race/IN/Greendale/Greendale4thOfJuly5K.
Fishing Derby | 9:00am | Schnebelt Pond
Mayor Karsteter and the City of Greendale host the annual Fishing Derby at Schnebelt Pond. Open to children ages 2–13 with a guardian present — no registration needed. Bring your own pole; bait will be provided. Hot dogs, hamburgers, cookies, and water will be served, and every participant receives a gift. Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories.
Kids' Bike Parade | 2:00pm | Oakey Park
Line up on Sheldon Street and show off your patriotic spirit! No registration required — just decorate your bike and join the fun.
Golf Cart Parade | 3:00pm | Oakey Park
Golf cart owners are invited to line up on Sheldon Street for the parade. No registration required — decorate your cart and ride with pride.
Beer Garden | 5:00pm | Greendale Park
Hosted by Greendale Main Street, the beer garden opens at 5:00pm. Cash only. Guests must be 21 or older with a valid government ID.
Live Music | 5:00pm – Fireworks
A DJ keeps the energy going from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, followed by live music at the Main Stage through the start of fireworks.
Food Trucks | All Day | Pool Parking Lot
Greendale Parks is hosting food trucks in the pool parking lot throughout the day. The Greendale Pool concession stand will also be open, closing after the fireworks. The Greendale pool itself will be open until 5:00pm.
Fireworks | Dusk | Greendale Park
Cap off the celebration with a spectacular fireworks show at Greendale Park, sponsored by Greendale Parks.
Tennis & Pickleball Courts Tennis and pickleball courts will close at 5:00pm.

ROAD CLOSURES & PARKING RESTRICTIONS:
Due to the 5k race, from 7:30 to 9:30am, the following intersections will be closed on Nowlin Ave: Parkside, Park Grove, Cora, Haag, and Probasco.
For the Fishing Derby, there will be no parking from 9:00am to noon on Nowlin between Arthur and Cora.
The Bike Parade will begin at Oakey Park and end at Greendale Park, and there will be barricades in place along the route from 1:30pm to 2:30pm. These barricades will be placed at Dejerus Lane to Oakey on Sheldon, from Sheldon to Nowlin on Oakey, between Oakey Ave and Park Street on Nowlin.
Beginning at noon, there will be no parking signs posted on Rand Ave between the City Garage and Nowlin, on Nowlin between Park Street and 22 Lauren Hill Lane, on 22 Lauren Hill Lane between Nowlin and Sunset Drive, as well as on Tanner between Park Street and Cook.
From 6:00 to 11:00pm, no golf carts or motorized vehicles are permitted on Rand, Tanner between Cook and Park, or on Nowlin between Cook and Rand due to high pedestrian traffic.
Please use caution traveling in area and use alternative detours and routes available. Thank you for your cooperation in making this a safe Independence Day for all!
