Golf Cart Registration Application

Golf Cart Use in the City of Greendale

  • No person shall operate a golf cart within the city unless the operator

    holds a valid driver's license.


  • No person shall operate a golf cart within the city unless the golf cart is

    registered with the City of Greendale through the Greendale Police

    Department.


  • A copy of the individuals driver's license and proof of insurance in the

    amount not less than the minimum required by Indiana law (9-25-4) for a

    motor vehicle are required at the time of registration. A copy will be kept on file with the Clerk Treasurer.


  • No person shall operate a golf cart before sunrise or after sunset within the city unless it is equipped with head lights, tail lights, brake lights, and turn signals.


  • Golf carts may be operated on authorized streets in compliance with the

    city ordinance and all other applicable state traffic laws and regulations.

    Golf carts may operate between the hours of 7:00am and 11:00pm.


  • The golf cart shall not be operated on the following roads or highways:

    Interstate 275, including the entrance and exit ramp. US Highway 50,

    Indiana St Rt 1, State Line Rd, Oberting Rd, Belleview Dr, and Ridge Ave with the exception of Ridge Ave at the traffic light at the intersection of Probasco St to cross over Ridge Ave and Ridge Ave and the traffic light at the intersection of Brown St and Ridge Ave.


  • Any person who violates ordinance shall be subject to a fine of $50 for the first violation in a calendar year and $100 for the second violation in a

    calendar year. If a person is cited for a violation of the ordinance for a third

    time in any calendar year, he or she may be subject to a fine of $200 and

    the registration for the golf cart that the cited person was operating at the

    time as well as any golf carts registered to the cited person shall be revoked and the golf cart(s) may not be registered for a period of one year.


  • Golf Cart- A commercially manufactured (4) wheeled motor vehicle

originally and specifically designed and intended to transport individuals for the purpose of playing golf on a golf course and that has not been modified in any fashion to increase speed.

Completed forms must be brought to the police station with a copy of the applicant's driver’s license and proof of their auto insurance.
