4th of July in Greendale: Celebrations & Parking



CELEBRATIONS IN GREENDALE:

Independence Day is almost here, and the City of Greendale is the place to celebrate!


The annual 5K Run/ Walk will begin at 8:00am and is being hosted by Voices of Indiana. To sign up and for more information, please visit https://runsignup.com/Race/IN/Greendale/Greendale4thOfJuly5K.


The City of Greendale and Mayor Karsteter are hosting the annual fishing derby beginning at 9:00am at Schnebelt Pond. No registration is required and children ages 3 to 13 are welcome to participate with a guardian present. Hot dogs, hamburgers, cookies, and water will be served. Bring your own fishing pole, and bait will be provided. Prizes in different categories will be awarded and each participant will receive a gift.


The Bike Parade will begin at 2:00pm at Oakey Park, with participants lining up on Sheldon Street. No registration is required, but don't forget to decorate your bikes!


The Golf Cart Parade will begin at 2:30pm at Oakey Park, with participants lining up on Sheldon Street. No registration is required, but don't forget to decorate your golf carts!


A beer garden, hosted by Greendale Main Street, opens at 5:00pm. *Please note, the beer garden is cash only and to enter, you must be over 21 years of age with a valid government ID.


A DJ will be providing music from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and live music from 7:00pm until the beginning of fireworks at Greendale Park, sponsored by Greendale Parks.


Food trucks, hosted by Greendale Parks, will be in the pool parking lot throughout the festivities.


The Greendale Pool concession stand will be open throughout the day and closing after the fireworks.


Fireworks will begin at dusk at Greendale Park.

ROAD CLOSURES & PARKING RESTRICTIONS:

Due to the 5k race, from 7:30 to 9:30am, the following intersections will be closed on Nowlin Ave: Parkside, Park Grove, Cora, Haag, and Probasco.


For the Fishing Derby, there will be no parking from 9:00am to 11:00am on Nowlin between Arthur and Cora.


The Bike Parade will begin at Oakey Park and end at Greendale Park, and there will be barricades in place along the route from 1:30pm to 2:30pm. These barricades will be placed at Dejerus Lane to Oakey on Sheldon, from Sheldon to Nowlin on Oakey, between Oakey Ave and Park Street on Nowlin.


Beginning at 6:00pm, there will be no parking signs posted on Rand Ave between the City Garage and Nowlin, on Nowlin between Park Street and 22 Lauren Hill Lane, on 22 Lauren Hill Lane between Nowlin and Sunset Drive, as well as on Tanner between Park Street and Cook.

From 6:00 to 11:00pm, no golf carts or motorized vehicles are permitted on Rand, Tanner between Cook and Park, or on Nowlin between Cook and Rand due to high pedestrian traffic.

Please use caution traveling in area and use alternative detours and routes available. Thank you for your cooperation in making this a safe Independence Day for all!
