National Register of Historic Places
We're excited to announce that the City of Greendale was recently named to the National Register of Historic Places. According to the nomination, "The Greendale Historic District is located in the City of Greendale, in Dearborn County, Indiana and shoulder to shoulder with Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Positioned on the Ohio River and close to Cincinnati, Ohio, both of the settlements benefited from close associations with transportation and manufacturing interests in the region. Known primarily for quantity and quality of its distillery products, Greendale had the basic ingredients near at hand - water, grain, a work force, and the means to move the product to its consumers using water transportation, the Ohio River. Some of the finest homes built in the district belonged to the owners of the distilleries and/or their progeny".
