Electric Department

The Electric Department has five (5) employees and provides electric service to the residents and commercial buildings in Greendale. Four substations and associated transformers in the City step the voltage down wherein the homes and businesses can utilize the power provided. The department maintains over 560 newly installed LED street lights. Greendale is also a member of the Indiana Municipal Power Association (IMPA). IMPA has over 50 members and is headquartered in Indianapolis. IMPA provides members with wholesale electric service as well as consulting assistance with its staff. Greendale was a founding member of IMPA.


Utility Office

The utility office is staffed by the Utility Clerk and Utility Receptionist/Customer Service. The staff compile the water, sewer, electric and sanitation bills each month and mail them to nearly 2200 locations. Purchasing and bills are paid by the Deputy Clerk Treasurer. Resident inquiries and work orders are directed to this staff for routing. Accounting reports and tracking of utility budgets are done by the Clerk Treasurer’s office.
